The Diabetes Certification Program is designed to prepare pharmacists to provide diabetes patient care for a test program being established by the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority. The initial pilot for the program will be held in Roswell, Artesia and Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Patient Care through Certified Pharmacists will begin on October 1, 2008.

Participants in the Diabetes Certification Program can register for the program by going to www.aheconnect.com and creating a profile for themselves. Once the profile is completed they can register for the course. The course name is Diabetes certificate program via the internet (session 2). Participants have pre-readings and a pre-test to take prior to viewing the didactic modules.

The “Part B” component of the training has been established through Krista Salazar, PharmD, at the UNM College of Pharmacy. 

Krista will provide a required live “Skills Lab” component on September 6, in Artesia, New Mexico.
